Welcome!

Located in San Juan Capistrano, CA we strive to provide students rich, educational experiences through our hands-on lessons and time spent outdoors.

We offer Beginning Spanish, Handicraft and Unit Study classes in one hour blocks in a small group setting. Learning comes in many forms so our classes offer a variety of ways for children to interact with the different subjects.

We also offer one-on-one tutoring in various subjects for learners who would benefit from more individualized instruction.

CLASSES

We’re offering the following non-sectarian classes for homeschool students.

Beginning Spanish

$250/semester

This one hour class will introduce students to basic conversation and vocabulary with the use of songs, games, puppets and more. The goal is to get students interacting with the language as much as possible while making activities fun and enjoyable. Through a variety of short activities children will be moving and working over the course of the entire hour.

Handicrafts

$250/semester

This class dives into the fun of creating usable crafts with our hands and will include making paper, candles, stamps, and knitting among other activities. Hands on work engages a child’s whole being and allows learners to acquire useful skills. Weekly projects will expose them to a variety of new handicrafts over the course of the class.

Unit Studies

$250/semester

These Charlotte Mason- inspired unit studies combine quality children’s literature with art, narration, copywork and hands-on projects to deeper explore the topic whether it be ecosystems, Native American studies, CA history, life cycles or wildcraft. Classes are social studies and science focused but aim to take the subject off the page and out into the world.

ABOUT ME

Hola! 👋🏼 My name is Caitlin Tufts. I have been a classroom teacher, literacy tutor and homeschool mom for over twenty years. I taught briefly in public school while pursuing myundergrad, teaching credential and masters degree in education but felt most at home in a Montessori school where I taught Spanish to preschool through sixth graders for twelve years.

I now homeschool my own two children and am passionate about making education as hands-on and experiential as possible with regular field trips, outdoor adventures, and experiential learning projects.

Having lived, studied and worked abroad for multiple years, I strive to bring a wider worldview to my students’ learning as well as to make learning fun and interactive.

Please feel free to shoot me a message if you’d like to know more or have any questions.
